The Price Is Right kicked off its Celebrity Charity Week with rapper and longtime fan of the show Snoop Dogg assisting contestants on his way to raising $72,585 for his inner-city youth organization, the Snoop Football League.

The "Drop It Like It's Hot" rapper won big by helping contestant Armando take home a Snoop-themed Showcase, but also took the time to pose in his classic Westside cruising style before helping Daria look-a-like Alexis take home a mint 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible.

The rapping reptile from Ferngully is arrested for domestic abuse

Rapper Tone Loc was arrested Saturday afternoon for felony domestic violence after a physical altercation with the mother of his child.



Law enforcement sources say that Loc (real name Anthony Smith) was arrested yesterday around 2:45 PM at an apartment complex in Burbank, CA. We're told he was taken in without incident and booked into jail a few hours later.

He is currently being held on $50,000 -- and, as of this posting, has yet to be released. (According to CNN he "spent less than three hours behind bars before he posted a $50,000 bond Saturday evening")

Loc achieved fame in the late 1980s with such legendary songs as "Funky Cold Medina" and "Wild Thing."

Lil B aka BasedGod Unveils his 'I'm Gay' Album Cover

Lil B is proud to be gay — or rather he's proud to be happy, as stated on his new album cover, which he revealed Wednesday (June 15) exclusively on "RapFix Live."

After announcing that he will be titling his next album I'm Gay, the Based God received criticism from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and other rappers and even got death threats from fans. But despite all the hoopla, B's album isn't quite as alarming as many suspected it would be.

The cover — which was done by the "Wonton Soup" rapper's artist friend Uncle Grumpy — was made from scratch but based off of a 1970s Ernie Barnes painting titled "Sugar Shack." The famous painting was used in the popular '70s sitcom "Good Times" and as the album cover to Marvin Gaye's 1976 album I Want You. Rap group Camp Lo also threw a nod to the classic work on their 1997 debut Uptown Saturday Night.

The Based God, however, put a 2011 spin on the painting, which depicted a club scene that reflected one of Barnes' childhood experiences. B took the painting and broke it down into three parts, showing the steps that people need to take to reach "mental freedom."

"Pretty much the album cover, you see it's the three sides of the slavery, mental slavery and mental freedom at the ending where everybody is happy," Lil B said to MTV News. "The reason why I did the I'm Gay album, I really seen that the hip-hop community is being very close-minded and very hateful, very violent."

The Berkeley, California, rapper feels that his polarizing album title will help take the sting out of the word "gay" and eventually lead to global acceptance. "People use evil words, money, separation, stuff like that. I just wanted to make this to show words don't mean anything," he said.

Ja Rule sentenced to two years in jail

 

Ja Rule sentenced to two years in jail: Hip-hop artist to serve prison sentence for possession of semi-automatic handgun in a July 2007 incident

Hip-hop artist Ja Rule has been sentenced to two years in prison, six months after he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

The 35-year-old rapper and actor, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, did not speak during the sentencing held at New York State Supreme Court. He was set to report to prison later on Wednesday.

The charge stemmed from a July 2007 incident, when police pulled Atkins over after a New York concert and found a semi-automatic handgun hidden in his car, according to authorities.
Ninety minutes before his sentencing, Atkins sent a final message to his 50,000 Twitter followers: "Out on my patio having my last free moment I love all my fans Pain is love!!!" He signed autographs on his way into the courthouse.
After the sentencing, Atkins, who wore white trainers and matching grey sweatpants and a sweatshirt, hugged his attorney and waved to his wife.

He will likely serve between 18 and 20 months with good behavior, his lawyer Stacey Richman said.
Fellow rapper Lil Wayne was arrested separately after the same concert at New York's Beacon Theater after police discovered him smoking marijuana near a tour bus.

Atkins also faces possible federal prison time for failing to pay taxes from 2004 to 2008. He pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to file taxes in a New Jersey federal court in March.
A sentencing date has not been set on that case.

Atkins received a 2002 Grammy nomination for his album, "Pain is Love," and has appeared in several films, including "The Fast and the Furious."

His latest studio effort, "Pain is Love 2," is scheduled to be released later this summer, and his manager, Ron Robinson, said he was putting the finishing touches on the album two nights ago.
He spent his last day of freedom Tuesday seeing the movie "X-Men: First Class" with his family, according to his Twitter feed.
